Abstract

The objective of this paper is to overview sustainable development with reference to problems that do not allow performing an actual diagnosis of sustainability in Latin American cities. Subsequently, examples that show the implementation of methods, programs and systems in Latin American cities that have reduced CO2 emissions, improving water quality, supplied electricity from methane gas, increased the number of green areas, improved transportation routes to reduce car use, improved air quality and have optimized the energy consumption of public buildings, are presented here.
